Hello, it’s me, Najib! I’m doing Najib things and living the Najib life.

Actually, since Najib hasn’t been doing his thing for awhile now I decided to write something anyway just to rack up the post count. I’ve watched the past two episodes of Rock Star INXS on Star World and I thought I’d post my thoughts.

It’s entertaining enough, and I think it beats out American Idol in some respects. First of all, all the contestants are seasoned performers so there’s nobody who just came off the street and caught a lucky break (and yes I realise that’s the whole appeal of the Idol franchise). Secondly, I think by the very nature of the show song choices tend to be a little bit more interesting (although Constantine Maroulis performing Bohemian Rhapsody on Idol is a high note in talent shows). Of course, being a Mark Burnett production they have to have the “behind the scenes” action though thankfully there’s a lot less bickering than on some other reality television shows, probably because their fates are at least partially decided by the viewing audience rather than any sort of council or executive decision.

Brooke Burke is a lot less entertaining of a host than you’d expect her to be (perhaps more boobage is the answer) and I guess Dave Navarro is there to lend rock credibility. Besides, reality TV is probably how he pays his bills these days.

Of course, the reason I keep watching is because of Jordis Unga. It always happens that I end up following reality televison because of some woman that I find interesting (like Elyse Sewell for the first season of America’s Next Top Model… although my fascination with Angie couldn’t get me to watch Survivor: Palau). I think she’s really pretty, and she sings great too. Her rendition of Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold The World” gave me goosebumps.

So that’s why I’m watching Rock Star INXS. Although I was shocked that Ty had never even heard of the Foo Fighter’s Everlong.
