We were at Mak’s place the other day when suddenly towards closing time electronic music came over the radio. It was kind of reminiscient of how Daud’s used to have Bollywood music playing on Saturday nights. Occasionally they’d even have dance music or hip-hop playing as well. In any case, it provoked Azmi to ask what genre the music fell into. I replied that that maybe it fell into the house music category, which provoked the reaction from Farhan that somehow people who claimed to like house music were infringing on the trance scene about “how ppl probably don’t know that they’re listening to house when it’s being played in them pubs, discos and them ministry of sounds“, in a tone of voice usually reserved for when “real” punks talk about Simple Plan or Good Charlotte.
These were our responses.

I found this while digging through all the files on my PC and thought it might make a nice update. A photo of the extended UsDudes family, taken waaay back when, apparently so far back that we 1) still went Hari Raya visiting, and without baju kurung no less and 2) when we had no idea of how to dress up. Also hopefully proof that Najib and I spent four years in classes together and most of them spent right next to each other, a fact that Najib seems to have forgotten.
Hey, I’m not being spiteful, he really didn’t remember.
Interestingly, I still own the pair of brown Doc Martens that I’m wearing in this photo. Not only have they outlasted every other shoe I owned in the intervening time , they’re at least a size smaller than any other shoe I have currently.
Photo taken outside Fazrin’s old flat.
