Airline Reservation
[See post to listen to audio]

Sorry for the long delay for anybody who was actually waiting for some more files to be put up. Here is the rest of the collection which we have at our disposal. There is no more after this. Apologies for the clicking sound in some of the files.

Football
[See post to listen to audio]

Hey Gumok, Gumok
[See post to listen to audio]

Now I’m not entirely sure that all the audio files which we have posted so far are actually by Kopi Kat Klan or some other Singapore comedy group. It’s just how we found them named when we got them. If anyone has any info that the clips are from some other source, please leave a comment.

One Fine Summera Morning
[See post to listen to audio]

Oooh Baby
[See post to listen to audio]

I know a lot of you would like to be able to download the files and some of you have already figured out how to get them directly from our servers. But to try and conserve bandwidth, we’re trying to find a good one-click hosting site(like Rapidshare or something) to upload the entire set to. We’re not very fond of rapidshare so if you have any leads on a good one-click hosting site, let us know.

Road Bully
[See post to listen to audio]

The 5 C’s
[See post to listen to audio]

The Backseat Driver
[See post to listen to audio]

That is all. I hope you enjoyed listening to all these great skits and songs as much as we have.

Update - Download all the files from all three parts.

Part 1 posted here.

From Today newspaper, taken off here.

I don’t know whether I’ve mentioned on UsDudes before the amount of publicity Gurmit Singh’s been getting since he started appearing on local television. When SBC ‘privatised’ and became TCS and RCS, not only did Gurmit start starring on shows, he got his own show along with an ad campaign to go with it. Since then he’s gotten a disproportionate amount of hosting and acting gigs in comparison to almost anybody else at Mediacorp. I’ve theorised that they got Daniel Ong to co-host the second season of Singapore Idol with him simply because they didn’t want to let Gurmit go despite the bad publicity he got hosting the first season. So why Gurmit? Is it because he’s the yellowest brown guy at Mediacorp? Does he have photos of top Mediacorp executives with dead hookers? It boggles the mind occasionally.

I don’t begrudge him a living though. Clearly he works hard for the money (so hard for the money). It would be nice however to see Mediacorp push their younger talent on to bigger and better things.

And a word to the people behind 80’s Rewind.

When “That ’70s Show” first aired, it made the punctuation mistake of putting the apostrophe between the 0 and the s, like this: 70’s. Several seasons down the road, the show’s producers realised their mistake and moved the apostrophe to its proper place, before the number 70: That ’70s Show. This is correct because ’70s is actually a truncation of 1970s. Just like the truncation for little is ‘lil. The apostrophe comes first.

Then comes along MediaCorp, doing its own copy of the show, right down to the punctuation error: 80’s Rewind. For the record, it should be ’80s Rewind. Let’s see how many seasons it takes before they realise their mistake.

Thanks to Amos Kwok, who is one of the writers behind some of our favourite shows back in the day, including Shiver and Triple Nine.

In a bid to capitalise on the social networking phenomenon, UsDudes will be launching a new social networking site called Passbook.

As there’s currently a glut in the market for such sites, it follows that a new site should fill a gap that other sites have thus far been unable to. Thus not only will Passbook.com allow you to keep in touch with your friends by sharing your email and snail mail addresses, IM nicks or even your taste in movies, it will also allow your friends to trace your banking habits.

Never again will your friends have to wonder what banks you have accounts with, what your account numbers are or what your ATM card passwords are. All this information will be available at the click of a button. Need to know who among your friends has the most money in the bank? The Top Earning Friends application will take care of that! A wide variety of other applications will allow you to share everything from online transactions to NETS purchases to ATM withdrawals with your closest friends. Your friend is down to his last dollar in his savings account? Send him a hug to show that you care.

Passbook.com. The future of social networking.

***

The parents did a clean up of our very overcrowded store and decided to throw out a whole bunch of toys that my brother and I had played with as children. Not wanting to waste them if possible I sent out an open invitation to my friends to take any toys they wanted. The UsDudes responded and thus a typical lazy Sunday afternoon became the Great Toy Purging of 2007.

The line-up.

Boes relives his childhood.

The Magus looks upon his works. Despair, ye mighty. I had a ton of toys from when I was a kid but my parents (pretty rightfully, I might add) put an end to toy buying when I entered primary school. This meant I missed out on things like Ninja Turtles and their like. Curiously once I hit adolescence I had money to burn and I started buying toys again. The thing I was most into was the Polly Pocket analog for boys called Mighty Max. Mighty Max was a British created line of hand-sized playsets that ended up inspiring a very fine American made cartoon and I collected a whole bunch of them. Farhan had originally wanted to take the M.A.S.K toys I had (for whatever reason he took the figures but not the vehicles… probably because’s he’s a bitch) but ended up taking all of the Mighty Max playsets instead. They were in the best condition of the bunch so I can’t really fault him.

And so it was done. Transformers (not all that many considering my fondness of the cartoon), Starcom (the intro seems incredibly well animated for the time), Sky Commanders and a whole bunch of others thrown out. It’s hard to really feel sorry throwing out stuff you haven’t seen in years and so I can get rid of these things without too much of a heavy heart.

Screen capture of possibly the best sitcom to have ever aired on television.

For Azmi’s birthday/ Deepavali we went to the newly opened Ramen Ten outlet at Century Square. The food was good as up to typical Ramen Ten standards, but the pseudo club/ high end restaurant look seemed more than a little out of place. Red walls, red chandeliers, in a place that used to be a Long John Silver’s. Although looking at the Ramen Ten website I guess their designers have a taste for the garish.

Century Square’s demonic overlords cast a spell on unsuspecting shoppers. To be fair, the pentagram, like many other symbols, is only as good or evil as its users make it out to be.

Meanwhile, back at the Zack cave…

Azmi engages in some challenging reading.

All your PS2 is belong to us.

It happens that everytime we go to my place, a PS2 session is inevitable. It’s a little behind the times sure, but I really barely play it any more. I don’t have the patience to complete long ass missions really. I’m trying to finally get down to completing Metal Gear Solid 3 though, and then the machine’s probably going into cold storage (not the supermarket).

Part of a belated set of photos spanning the second half of 2007. This is from the UsDudes organised barbecue from July 2007. Probably the best organised of these irregular things to date. I got the drinks I had left over from an old TigaPe event a few months back, and some disposable utensils I’d come across while doing my ICT. We got the food and other supplies from the fine people at BBQ Wholesale, which is halal certified, has almost everything you might need for a barbecue and they deliver as well.

Not as many people turned out as we’d hoped, but keeping things intimate meant it was well, more intimate. We still got visits from overseas Dude Raizan, and rare sightings of old Temasek-era comrades Rahman and Hidayat. Birthday cake for myself courtesy of Winda (thank you very much), and while it wasn’t far removed from a regular Saturday night hangout it was still fun.

Being apparently the only person who still has a portable stereo I was elected to provide the music. Unfortunately 6 C batteries don’t come cheap. Fortunately through an act of complete serendipity Azmi and I found super cheap C batteries. Naturally they didn’t have a lot of juice, but it played the radio for about four hours or so just fine. Trying to play a CD we immediately saw the “low batt” light flashing.

Apologies for the lack of photos. My camera had already died by this point and I had borrowed my dad’s camera which is pretty ancient itself and which I wasn’t terribly comfortable using.

Lots of helicopter flybys throughout the evening due to National Day Parade rehearsals being held at Marina Bay many miles away, but I can always imagine the flags were big banners saying “Happy Birthday Samurai Zack”.
